Welcome to the official web site of
the Sustainable Jakarta Convention 2009!

Our city, our future

Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta and its environs represent one of the fastest growing cities in the world with 24 million inhabitants. And the numbers of residents and commuters just keep on growing. Economic growth and progress raises many issues. How to provide for the needs of today’s citizens, let alone the expectations of the next generation?

The Sustainable Jakarta Convention is a two-day event in November, bringing together 40 speakers and 800 decision makers to debate how best to create a capital city that is a connected, viable and livable place for its citizens. The aim over three intensive and exciting days is to foster understanding, cooperation and the development of strategies that will help shape a sustainable megacity for generations to come.

Together we can build foundations for society’s future. We’ll be looking at every aspect of Jakarta’s development.

      •  Sustainable construction and adequate housing
      •  Energy efficiency and conservation
      •  Infrastructure planning and transportation needs
      •  Waste and water management
      •  Financing and investing for sustainability

Can you afford to miss this unique opportunity to attend and learn from this window into our future?
