2009 Sustainable Jakarta Convention
A three-day event bringing together urban planners, politicians, developers, architects, NGOs, energy experts, the media and the public to discuss implementable solutions to the city’s greatest areas of need: mobility, sustainable construction and affordable housing, waste and water management, energy efficiency, and financing.
The Sustainable Jakarta Convention was held between November 10th and 12th. Co-organised by Holcim Indonesia, along with the International Finance Corporation, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Swisscontact. During the first two days, 40 speakers and 350 decision makers met to debate how to take action on a city burgeoning beyond its means; how to create a connected, likeable city; how to fund projects; and how to align relevant parties. On the third day, selected invitees met in roundtable discussions on the development of specific seed projects related to key issues: mobility, housing, energy and waste.
